Extreme Makeover: Me Edition

*Side note* I was almost completed with this post yesterday, however my good friend DJ from Portrait of my Heart came over to my house for a girls night and I was having so much fun with her that I never finished my post, so sorry I am a day late! ;) And thanks DJ for the fabulous girl time- I am tired today, but it is worth it! Love ya!

Todays Q. is:

Share with us a healthy recipe.{One that you've adapted, found, made up. Anything. Try to give any nutritional info if possible}

I don't even know what to call this, but I can tell you that it is low fat, all ingredients are good for you and it tastes like a cinnamon roll (you can't beat that) :) My Aunt told me about it once when she was doing the South Beach Diet and it is just a really great snack.

Ingredients:

  • Cottage Cheese

  • Cinnamon

  • pinch of splenda, equal or whatever kind of sugar you want (if you have the little pouches of splenda you get at a restaurant I use 1/2 the pouch.)

  • Slivered Almonds

And that's it. Easy huh? Just top the cottage cheese with cinnamon, (I like a lot of cinnamon, and it's good for your metabolism), sprinkle with splenda and almonds and wallah!

So the question for today was the easy part, trying to hold myself accountable for last week is a whole nother story. First, I couldn't believe that a whole week had went by since my last post. Then I stepped on the scale and I have gained a lb. :( And I won't even mention what I ate last night (PB Twix, Cake, Baked Spaghetti, oh my!) This week I need to do a complete overhaul. I am planning a trip to Hawaii for Jan. of 2010, I REALLY need to start taking this seriously, especially since the time literally flies by and weeks turn into months turn into years and I need to change my habits now. Hope everyone else had a good week!

New Blog Name- Michelle Finn is now: Tickled Pink and Fabulous!

So I have taken the plunge. After months of trying to think of a clever blogging name (besides the really clever- Michelle Finn!) I decided to go with Tickled Pink and Fabulous! Pink is one of my favorite colors and I say Fabulous more times in a day then any other word in the US language. So there you have it! I personally love it, but now I just need to get a really cute blog page to go with it. For the life of me, I can not figure out how to create those really cute headers, or change the fonts so they are super cute cursive shabby chic like letters or how to make a super fabulous signature line. Any suggestions? I am thinking that I am going to have to just break down and pay someone to create a unique background that will go with my new name. Not sure how much they cost, but hopefully not too much. Anyone have any good blog design contact suggestions? Thanks in advance! ;)

Pity Party

I haven't written in a few days. Sorry about that.

Do you ever just have those days..... You wake up, you think everything is fine and as the day goes on it just goes down hill? That was my day yesterday.

Granted, I was hyper sensitive for some reason, and I didn't even realize it, not that it takes much for me to be sensitive, but I was breaking down into tears every time I opened my mouth. Fun day! And it isn't even 'that time' of the month, which at least if it were I would have something to blame it on.

Then last night, I decide to have one of 'those dreams'. The ones where you wake up and you have to ask yourself, was that a dream? It was so real. And sometimes those dreams you want to end quickly, you want to wake up and remind yourself it was just a dream and you are so thankful that you have your 'real life' to go back to, but last nights dream I didn't want to wake up from. Last nights dream could have lasted forever and I would have been okay with that. I wanted it to be real when I woke up and I desperately tried to fall back asleep so that I could hopefully be caught up in this bliss for a few more hours, but to no avail. My sweet Grandparents called and woke me up for good. Gotta love 'em. But the rest of my day has been shot. Because since that dream 'seemed' so real, I have been thinking about it and all the people involved in it all day. Aaagghhhh........

And today, the sun is not shining. The sky is gray. It is not raining, but it is drizzling, which I think is worse, and I am having a pity party! Anyone want to join?

Extreme Makeover: Me Edition

So last week I decided to join Extreme Makeover: Me Edition. You can check out all of the rules and join in on the fun by visiting Ambers blog here.

This weeks question is:

Share some of the music that you work out to. What helps you rock it!? What gets your blood pumpin?

This is a fabulous question! I LOVE ALL types of music, but to workout I usually stick to peppy, fun music that gets me motivated to get off my butt and do something. Songs that when I hear them make me imagine myself 'skinny' and how fabulous I would look in my closet full of clothes that right now do not fit me.

So here is my workout playlist right now: (I will keep it to ten)

  • Miley Cyrus (my guilty pleasure) : See you again
  • Lady Gaga: Poker Face and Just Dance
  • The Veronicas: Untouched
  • Oceanlab (Techno which is my favorite to run to): Satellite- Above and Beyond Club Mix (SO GOOD)
  • Above and Beyond: Can't Sleep - Signum Remix
  • Britney Spears: Womanizer and Unusual You
  • IIO: At the end (Ultra Sun Remix)
  • DJ Tiesto: In my memory (feat. Nicola Hitchcock)- If you like techno/trance with words you will LOVE this song.
  • Timberland: The Way I Are (one of the songs that makes me imagine myself skinny- hahaha) :)
  • Kanye West: Gold digger

Surprisingly the scale says I have lost two lbs since the last time I weighed myself, but I am thinking something might be wrong with my scale so I am going to double check tomorrow to make sure it says the same thing. Knowing that I have a blog to post about working out and eating better has helped a bit when making my decisions on food etc. However I did cheat during my Bowling League night and had a Reece's peanut better cup (my weakness is chocolate and peanut butter- together).

This next week I am going to really focus on getting in at least 8 glasses of water, and working out consistently. Wish me luck! :)

Twilight Fan. Check!

So I was over at tatertots and jello and she had a picture up of hottie Mc hottiepants Edward Cullen! (NOT Robert Pattinson- EDWARD CULLEN- any real Twilight fan's will know what I mean! ) :) It got me thinking that I really needed to do a post on the Twilight serious because I am abnormally obsessed with these books. Most books that I am really into I can read in a day to a day in half, but I don't usually dream about one of the main characters or wake up and wish that my husband would secretly turn into Edward Cullen, or that I would magically become Bella in my own real life love story! LOL. Call me crazy, but I actually had to take a break from the books because they were consuming my thoughts and I was pretty irritated with Stephanie Myers (the Author) in the second book (New Moon) because I did not want to read about Jacob Black, I only wanted to read about Edward. Am I the only one who has had these thoughts? I am sure that I am not.

My Aunt and her family live in Forks, Wa. and the crazy fans (not me) ;) leave their jobs and their homes to move to Forks and open Twilight gift shops (this is a true story). I am not anywhere near that crazy. I have been to Forks my whole life, and it is exactly how the book describes it; cloud covered, rainy, dreary. But where I live it rains a lot too, so unlike the crazies, I won't move to Forks, I'll just have Edward move to my town. Even if it is in my dreams. Hahaha. :)

For your viewing pleasure! (I won't tell you that I spent more then two hours watching different clips of Edward and new trailers for New Moon on Youtube.) Don't forget to pause my music player on the right hand side before playing the video.

Worship and Praise Sunday

I am so late putting this up, but better late then never. :) Crazy day!

This song is one that encouraged me through a very rough time in my life, way back in 1996, Wow how the time flies. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and still do. If you watch the video, around 1 min. 25 seconds there is the cutest picture of a little boy and his dog praying, gave me chills. Have a wonderful day!

Pause my music player on the right hand side before playing music video.

Flashback Friday~

Two weeks ago I did a Flashback Friday that I dedicated to my Mother. This week I am going to dedicate this Flashback Friday to my 'Daddy', the GREATEST MAN I know!

First a little history: (again getting a little personal)

My entire childhood and into my adult life my Dad dealt with a very serious alcohol addiction. For years he tried to quit drinking on his own and through various programs but nothing ever worked. My whole family went through a lot, too much to explain, and at one point when I was around 7 or 8 years old, I begged my Mom to leave him. She never did, I am SO GLAD she didn't! (she is so strong) But even at my Dads worst he was still a GOOD man, who loved his family but didn't know how to fight this sickness. (I call alcoholism a sickness, because I truly believe that it is, my Dad DID want to quit but the worlds way of trying to fix him NEVER worked) Finally in 2003 my Dad became a Christian and God entered his life! Alcohol no longer had a hold of my Dad. He has now been sober for 6 years and I wouldn't change my life for ANYTHING! My Dad has the most amazing testimony (I gave you a very short version) and he loves the Lord so much. I prayed years ago for God to change my Dad, and I didn't understand why it was taking so long, but now looking back, I would NEVER change it. God really knew what he was doing. If you were to meet my Dad you would never know that he ever struggled with an addiction, but he isn't ashamed to tell his story. I have always been very close to my Dad, and these past 6 years we have grown even closer. I can't imagine my life without him. He is such an amazing Husband to my Mom, Father to me, my Sister and Brother and to see him with his Grandchildren is one of the most beautiful things. He is such a wonderful Man. And even though he doesn't really know how to work a computer and probably won't read this blog. I just want to tell the world how wonderful he is. I love you Dad!

My Mom and Dad on their wedding day- sorry Mom (love the brown dress with blue flowers LOL) and my Dad is looking like a young John Travolta. :)

Me and my Dad

Oh his favorite joy in life, his custom Harley Davidson! :) When I knew my Dad was changed for good was when he road his Harley to visit me in Portland and he brought his Bible with him, I was asking him advice for something and he starting quoting Bible verses and told me to pray and read my Bible. He was a changed man! :)

so handsome, love you Dad!
